my favorites

Last week I got to hug some of my most favorite people in the world.

Given that I'm still a little bombarded by the emotions, err, hormones of new motherhood we're going for a few photos lest I start blubbering about how hard it is to live so far away from many, many people that I hold so close to my heart.

One of the things I keep coming across as the years go by is the importance of bearing witness. Bearing witness to experiences, events and people. There's a handful of people in my life that I need to have bear witness to my children in order for me to, I don't know, make sense of myself as a mother? Maybe. I just really need them to see my kids; to experience them as people and hold them. Something about baby Laithe having heard the heartbeats of my grandparents. Watching my dad tickle Guthrie. Hearing Zoe, Teagan and Gus talk about who knows what in the most serious way. Having my best friend hold my child like she holds her own. Makes me feel like things are a little more right with the world.

And see, now I'm totally crying. ehh.

I was glad to see a few more people in my all important handful.

I'm looking through my photos and I think they warrant a couple separate posts. So, for now I think just one picture - maybe my most favorite picture from the trip.

My Grandpa and my son.
